20% Merlot

Winemaker Notes:
Our Magito Highlands is a traditional "old world" French Bordeaux style blend with a touch of neo-classical artisan winemaking skills, which creates an original, yet classic wine drinking experience. The 2006 shows abundant blackberry and spice aromatics, and dark fruit flavors, with a firm tannin base. We source these grapes from vineyards at higher elevations (the Chalk Hill and Anderson Valley appellations in Sonoma County) where they grow in a cooler climate and in soils that hold less water. These grapes are more naturally regulating to the growth of the vine, and that by the time the vine is in a higher-growth phase, there is very little moisture left in the soil, and therefore, slow growth will ensue. Slower growth translates into grapes that have more concentrated flavors.
